‘Cold Breath’ dedicated to Kiarostami

Director of ‘Cold Breath’ has dedicated its public screening in Europe to the late great Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami.

“The film would be screened in several cinemas across Europe,” Abbas Raziji director and producer of the film ‘Cold Breath’ recently said.

He admired Kiarostami as one who played a key role in introducing the Iranian cinema to the world, particularly Europe.

The film is set to compete at the 14th edition of the Salento International Film Festival (SIFF) taking place from September 1 to 9, 2017 in the Italian city of Tricase, Salento Apulia.

It narrates the story of Maryam, who is a woman living as a man. The 30-year-old Maryam struggles in conforming to societal gender norms.

She is living paycheck to paycheck when her daughter succumbs to cancer and she must find a way to pay for treatment. Trusting in love for survival, Maryam faces her greatest fears head on when her secret is revealed.

‘Cold Breath’ stars Bita Baderan, Majid Mozaffari, Parichehr Riali, Hamideh Barati and Ezzatollah Ramezanifar.

It has so far attended more than 40 international festivals across the world and has managed to win a number of awards, including the best narrative feature at the Ridgefield Independent Film Festival last week.

The Iranian movie was also awarded for the best international narrative feature at the International Mammoth Lakes Film Festival (MLFF) in the US.
